Class PlanBelow is what we intend to cover in our classes.

Kindergarten
- Computer classes start in January to give the kindergarteners enough time to work on the basics (ABC’s and 123’s) before introducing them to the laptops in the lab.
- Listening skills, mouse, and keyboarding skills.
- Paintbrush will be used to teach basic mouse pad and formatting skills.
- ABCYA and Dance Mat will be used to teach keyboarding skills.
First through Third Grades
- Project based learning
- Keyboarding, mouse skills, and formatting skills
- Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Power Point
- Animation – Hour of code
Fourth and Fifth Grades
- Project based learning
- Advanced keyboarding and formatting, publishing, and presentations, animations, light coding, graphing
- MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Animation – Hour of code
- Working together - collaboration
Sixth through Eighth Grades
- Students continue to learn and work with the Microsoft Office programs Word, PowerPoint and Excel at an intermediate level.
- Higher levels of collaboration -working as an organization/team/company
- Project based assignments and assessments
- Building websites, video editing, networking, problem determination
- Internet and online image and text referencing is strongly reinforced
- Students in grades 6-7 will be introduced to Adobe Photoshop
- 8th graders will be completing an extensive Photoshop project during the first trimester in which they create their very own unique Yearbook self-portrait nameplates
Grading Process
The co-curricular grade scale for Computer Class is as follows:
In order to average these grades in PowerSchool, we need to assign numbers based on 100%. Therefore, 4 is entered as 100, 3 is entered as 75, 2 is entered as 50, and 1 is entered as 25. The % is NOT the actual grade. Co-curricular grades are shown in parenthesis, ie. (Co 4).
Assignments are coded as:
- 4 progress is outstanding;
- 3 progress is good;
- 2 progress is satisfactory;
- 1 progress needs improvement.
